UGLIES by SCOTT WESTERFELD

So, recently I just read an amazing book titled Uglies written by Scott Westerfeld. This novel is about a girl named Tally Youngblood who is about to turn sixteen. She can't really wait for her birthday because in a few weeks she will undergoes an operation that will turn her from being ugly to being pretty. And as pretty, she'll be catapulted into a high-tech paradise where her job is to have fun. However, Tally's new friend, Shay isn't sure whether she wants to be pretty or not. When Shay runs away, Tally learns about a whole new side of the pretty world- and it isn't very pretty. The authorities offer Tally a choice; find her friend and turn her in, or never turn pretty at all. At the end, Tally and Shay turn themselves in to the government. Tally spent a large part of the book wanting to be pretty; but now, she doesn't want to be pretty anymore. However, the ending of this story is quite hanging and questionable as it end with the line "I'm Tally Youngblood,"  she said. "Make me pretty."  However, who knows maybe Scott Westerfeld will publish his second book of Uglies to answer our curiosity. 😊
